Brrrrrr! Grrrrrrrrrr!

So last week, we had a heat wave. It was a tiny two-day heat wave, but it was hot — up in the nineties, which is 20 or 30 degrees above normal for May in Seattle.

People on the campus complained that the buildings were too hot. Evidently someone with some clout was one of the complainers, because physical plant decided to turn off the campus steam heating system completely. For the summer. And now, of course, the temperatures are down to the mid-fifties, which is not much chillier than normal. AND WE HAVE NO HEAT.

And they won’t turn it back on.

It is infuriating.

Yesterday I wore two big wool sweaters. This morning I only have one, so I’ve been huddling with this radiant-panel space heater thing.

Time for another cup of tea.
