Palindrome for September
And this month’s palindrome will be our first repeat ever! Because I am lazy. A lazy, lazy lush:
Martini mini-tram!
I recently have been the recipient of a little professional advice on the making of the better martini. It seems a key is to place the vermouth in the glass only, not the shaker, just after dumping the ice water out of the glass. Then swirl the vermouth and dump it too, very thoroughly. Shake that fucker out good. (Do not accidentally throw the glass in the sink.) Then pour the just-stirred (or just-shaken) martini out of the pitcher (or shaker) into the vacated glass. Evidently this way the vermouth does not pollute the entire beverage. It’s just barely there. And yay! It makes a noticeable difference. Thank you, Kip!

Brilliant!
How many times have you had to start all over due to shaking your glass into the sink and sadly into pieces?
When I order a martini in publick, I always tell them to just sort of “glance” at the vermouth. I will try your version – although, as memory serves, you like to drink those icky gin martinis, and I am a strictly vodka girl….

In answer to your question: none, fortunately. I’m afraid of broken glass, so I do hold on very tightly. :)
Ha, that’s a good way of putting it :)

I love the idea of you being a lazy lush. I mean, you’d get a lot less done, and you probably wouldn’t keep up with the palindrome-a-month that I so enjoy. But lazy lazy lush does have nice alliteration and a certain charm.

Hah! It does sound luxurious, doesn’t it? I’m picturing a lounge chair under a beach umbrella, an arm draped, a cocktail glass held slightly askew… yeah, I wouldn’t mind that for a job.

where do I sign?
although, I must say that the ABFAB variety appeals a little more to me.
Shopping and planning fashion shows and falling out of taxi cabs and the like….
next time you are at the frame shop we should have you intentionally break some glass scraps. It is actually quite liberating and could go a long way in conquering crystallophobia!
Did you know that glass is not technically a solid?
It is a verrry slowww moving liquid! neato!

Very neato! Have you heard of the pitch drop experiment? It is also neato.
I think it would take some mighty strong convincing to get me to break glass on purpose. Or some mighty strong drinks… oh, that sounds like a bad idea. :)

a bad idea, indeed. very much frowned upon.
what is this pitch drop experiment you speak of?
