We’ve been hearing helicopters over our neighborhood for about an hour now. A little while ago I finally got to the computer and checked the news, and found the situation to be just about as scary as I imagined:

SEATTLE – Police have taken at least two people into custody during a house-to-house [search] after a man robbed a bank at gunpoint this morning.
Seattle police say the robbery happened just before 11 a.m. at a U.S. Bank branch in the 1000 block of NE 63rd Street.
The suspect is a described as a white man in his 20’s with a black hoodie and black pants.
At least one man and one woman have been detained during the search. A SWAT team is now searching through a home where at least one of them was found.
So, yeah. The first time I checked, they had not yet taken anyone into custody, and the police were described as entering houses with guns drawn. I was expecting to see shadowy figures in the yard at any moment. So very yikes. Hopefully it’s almost over.
UPDATE! The helicopters are gone I think. And the news is no longer reporting a manhunt in progress — now it’s being described in the past tense. And baby and I are safe and sound. Whew!
